Model History
For 2009–2014, Yamaha radically redefined the R1 by introducing the crossplane crankshaft inline-four, a technology derived directly from MotoGP. This design delivered improved rear-wheel traction, more linear power delivery, and a visceral exhaust note unlike anything else in the literbike segment. The 2010 Limited Edition Valentino Rossi Team Fiat Yamaha Replica paid tribute to Yamaha’s MotoGP dominance, offering fans a chance to own a machine that visually and mechanically echoed Rossi’s race bike.
